‘Rambo: Last Blood’ Trailer: Rambo Rages Through Mexico

More than a decade after the fifth installment debuted, Sylvester Stallone is back for another entry in the Rambo franchise with Last Blood. The first footage from the movie debuted at the Cannes Film Festival back in May, but this is the first opportunity for the general public to see some extended clips beyond the behind-the-scenes snippets Stallone has been posting to his Instagram

Here’s the official plot synopsis, according to Deadline: “[W]hen the daughter of one of his friends is kidnapped, Rambo, who has been working on a ranch, crosses the U.S.-Mexican border and quickly finds himself up against the full might of one of Mexico’s most violent cartels.”

[RELATED1]

Outside of Stallone, the film will also feature Paz Vega (Carmen Delgado), who’s “a reporter who covers the Mexican drug trade and teams up with Rambo after her younger half-sister is kidnapped,” according to THR. The kidnapped daughter, Gabrielle, will be played by Yvette Monreal.

Sergio Peris-Mencheta will be playing the main villain, Hugo Martinez, a cartel worker on the loose. The Spanish actor is most known for portraying Gustavo “El Oso” Zapata in the FX crime drama, Snowfall.

Director Adrian Grunberg was tapped to helm the ship. He’s worked as a second-unit director for Apocalypto, Jack Reacher: Never Go Back, and a total of 22 episodes in the Narcos and Narcos: Mexico Netflix series.

Rambo: Last Blood will be hitting theaters on September 20.

Shawn Ray Disagrees With Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Stance on Drug Testing in Bodybuilding

The IFBB Hall of Famer wants to see the biggest and the best athletes.

At the Arnold Classic in Africa, Arnold Schwarzenegger called for drug testing in bodybuilding. You can read the full story here, but in short, his points were that steroid culture enables users to take more and more to stay competitive, while non-competitors are influenced to partake in drugs that are linked to low cholesterol, low sex drive, hair loss, and depression.

“A lot of people then get the feeling that if they did drugs, then that would enhance their performance,” Schwarzenegger said. “But what happens is if you think that two pills will help you, then there are guys that say, ‘OK, if I take 10, it will be five times as good.’ Then they go and overdose.”

On the other hand, IFBB Pro League Hall of Famer Shawn Ray said in an episode of the Shawn Ray Report that, “Steroids have been around for a very long time, and it’s a very personal choice in which ones athletes use.”

Ray believes that professional bodybuilders who understand the intricacies of these drugs and use them to boost recovery and sustain muscle mass during a low-calorie diet should be free to choose to take them or not. He likens that decision to watching NASCAR, saying that fans want to see how fast cars can go without crashing and burning, and though they sometimes crash, overall, they’re well-oiled machines.

“I respectfully disagree with the governor about bringing back drug testing,” says Ray, who failed the only drug-tested Arnold Classic competition in 1990. “Let the athletes decide what’s best for them to entertain in their chosen field. I don’t care what they do or what they take. I want to see the best-looking athlete.”

Larry Wheels Proves He’s Not From This Planet With a 675-Pound Bench Press

For how many personal records Larry “Wheels” Williams sets week after week, you’d think we’d be used to it by now. Then he goes and presses 675 fucking pounds over his chest like it was a broomstick.

What’s also amazing is that his elbows can flare out like that at the top without that half-a-smart-car worth of weight turning him into Larry Wheel-chair. (And let’s be honest, that spotter wouldn’t have been much help.) According to Dr. Pat Davidson—an exercise physiologist and the Director of Methodology at Hype Gym in NYC—what enables a specimen like Williams to consistently put up that weight is his penchant for practice.

“It’s the same as signing your name. When you’re doing that, you had a sheet of paper in front of you that showed you exactly the right shape to make for the letters that are in your name and you practiced over and over, and now you’re able to standardize the way you do it,” Davidson said on a recent episode of The Muscle & Fitness Podcast Reps. “It’s the old Bruce Lee quote of ‘I do not fear the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once. I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times.’”

In other words: Larry can bench that amount of weight with that form because it’s all he’s ever done. If he were to keep his elbows tucked in at 45 degrees the entire time or un-rack the bar slowly, well, he’d most likely be weaker (weaker, being relative, of course).

While we can almost guarantee that you’re a long way from a 675-pound press, this program should help you in your effort to up your bench press. In the meantime, we hope this video inspires you to crush your goals.

Lou Ferrigno Really Wants You to Get Off Your Damn Phone at the Gym

Lou Ferrigno reached bodybuilding legend status in his prime, going toe-to-toe with Arnold Schwarzenegger himself on the Olympia stage and playing the Incredible Hulk in the days before CGI was around to turn a man into a jade-jawed monster. It goes without saying that Ferrigno has always taken his workouts seriously, and at 67 years old, he still hits the gym hard to stay in killer shape.

Given his wealth of knowledge when it comes to building and maintaining muscle, it’s no surprise that Ferrigno shares training tips and videos on Instagram from time to time. But he took to the platform on Wednesday to draw attention to a gym pet peeve of his: mid-workout phone users who take up unnecessary space in the gym.

Let’s be honest: You either hate it when people pull this all-too-common move, or you are the person who’s so absorbed in your phone that you tell a legendary bodybuilder to wait a few minutes while you scroll through your social feeds and text your mom. If you’re the latter, Ferrigno has exactly no time for your bullshit.

At the end of the video, he shares his tips for lifters who are tired of having their workouts interrupted by slackers. If you can do it without being rude, Ferrigno suggests telling the person that if they’re not here to train, they shouldn’t bother spending time at the gym. If social interaction in the middle of a workout isn’t your thing, Ferrigno’s advice is to move on with a different exercise and address the problem later.

“Don’t let them discourage you,” he said. “Find another machine, and complain to the manager.”

Whether or not you address the problem with Ferrigno’s suggested approaches, one thing’s for sure: You don’t want to be that guy at the gym, and you don’t want to piss off the Incredible Hulk.
